The Capital Formation segment is a cornerstone of TMX Group, operating the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), a premier platform for senior equities, and the TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV), dedicated to the public venture equity market. This segment also includes TSX Trust, which provides essential corporate trust, registrar, transfer agency, and foreign exchange services, as well as Newsfile, a provider of news dissemination and regulatory filing services.

The Derivatives Trading & Clearing segment encompasses the Montreal Exchange (MX), Canadas national derivatives exchange, and the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation, which clears and settles options and futures contracts. This segment also includes BOX, a U.S.-based equity options market, and a range of over-the-counter (OTC) products and fixed income repurchase agreements.

The Equities and Fixed Income Trading & Clearing segment manages the trading operations of the Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, and TSX Alpha Exchange. It also operates CDS Clearing, an automated facility for clearing and settling equities and fixed income transactions, as well as providing custody services for securities. Additionally, this segment offers fixed income inter-dealer brokerage services.

Formerly known as Maple Group Acquisition Corporation, TMX Group Limited adopted its current name in August 2012. The company was incorporated in 2011 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
