The First Trust Small Cap Growth AlphaDEX® Fund (FYC) is an exchange-traded fund that invests at least 90% of its net assets in the securities comprising its underlying index. The index targets growth-oriented small-capitalization U.S. stocks drawn from the NASDAQ US 700 Small Cap Index, using First Trusts proprietary AlphaDEX® selection methodology to identify companies potentially capable of generating positive risk-adjusted returns relative to traditional benchmarks.
Listed on NASDAQ since its inception in April 2011, FYC falls within the U.S. small-cap growth segment of the ETF market. As a passively managed index-tracking fund, its business model relies on replication of the AlphaDEX®-screened basket rather than active stock selection, with portfolio composition periodically rebalanced to reflect changes in the index methodology.
