Description: IGOV International Treasury Bond

The iShares International Treasury Bond ETF (IGOV) tracks an index of fixed-rate, local currency, investment-grade sovereign bonds issued by developed-market governments. The fund commits at least 80% of its assets to the indexs component securities and at least 90% to fixed income securities represented in that index. It is structured as a non-diversified fund.

Because the index focuses on sovereign debt denominated in each issuers home currency, the fund exposes investors to foreign exchange movements alongside interest rate risk. Investment-grade in this context refers to bonds rated BBB-/Baa3 or higher by major credit rating agencies, a standard eligibility filter for conservative fixed-income products.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • ECB rate cuts compress German bund yields
  • US dollar strength erodes foreign bond returns
  • Japan policy normalization lifts JGB yields
