Description: FDMO Fidelity Momentum Factor

The Fidelity Momentum Factor ETF (FDMO) is designed to track the Fidelity U.S. Momentum Factor Index, investing at least 80% of its assets in large- and mid-cap U.S. companies exhibiting positive price momentum. The fund employs a factor-based strategy, a systematic approach that selects stocks based on quantitative characteristics (in this case, recent upward price performance) rather than traditional sector or market-cap weighting. As a passively managed ETF, it offers investors targeted exposure to the momentum factor, one of the established style factors in academic and practitioner finance.

In addition to its core equity holdings, FDMO participates in securities lending, loaning out portfolio securities to earn incremental income that can help offset fund expenses. This practice is common among index-tracking ETFs and can provide a modest boost to total returns, though it introduces minimal counterparty risk. The fund was launched in 2016 and is listed on the NYSE.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • ETF inflows accelerate as momentum factor outperforms broad market
  • Rising interest rates pressure high-multiple growth holdings in portfolio
  • Competition intensifies from iShares MSCI USA Momentum Factor ETF
