Description: FHLC Fidelity Health Care Index

The Fidelity MSCI Health Care Index ETF (FHLC) is a passively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance of the MSCI USA IMI Health Care 25/50 Index, which measures the U.S. health care equity sector. Under its investment policy, at least 80% of the funds assets are held in securities included in the underlying index, though the fund may hold a representative sample rather than every constituent. FHLC is classified as non-diversified and was launched in October 2013.

The U.S. health care sector encompasses a diverse range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, health insurers, and health care facilities and services. The 25/50 designation in the index name refers to diversification rules under the Investment Company Act of 1940, which limit the weighting of any single issuer to no more than 25% and cap aggregate issuer weights to comply with regulated investment company concentration limits.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • Drug pricing reform legislation threatens sector margins
  • Aging demographics boost U.S. healthcare demand
  • FDA approvals accelerate driving biotech constituent gains
