The Franklin FTSE South Korea ETF (FLKR) is a passive exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance of South Korean large- and mid-capitalization equities. Under normal market conditions, the fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of the FTSE South Korea Capped Index, as well as in depositary receipts representing those securities. The underlying index is a capped version of the FTSE South Korea Index, designed to limit concentration in any single security. The fund is classified as non-diversified, meaning it may hold a more concentrated portfolio than diversified ETFs.
South Koreas equity market is heavily oriented toward the technology and industrial sectors, with major exposure to semiconductor manufacturing, consumer electronics, and automotive industries. The capped index structure is intended to mitigate single-stock concentration risk, which is particularly relevant in South Korea where a few large issuers, including major chaebol-affiliated companies, tend to dominate market capitalization.
