The PIMCO 15+ Year U.S. TIPS Index Exchange-Traded Fund (LTPZ) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance of the ICE BofA 15+ Year U.S. Inflation-Linked Treasury Index. The fund invests at least 80% of its total assets in the component securities of this underlying index, which is comprised of Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) with maturities of 15 years or longer.
TIPS are U.S. government bonds whose principal value is adjusted periodically based on changes in the Consumer Price Index, providing investors with a hedge against inflation. As an inflation-protected bond ETF, LTPZ offers targeted exposure to long-duration TIPS, which tend to be more sensitive to interest rate movements than shorter-maturity inflation-linked securities. The fund listed on the NYSE in September 2009.
- Hot CPI data lifts inflation expectations and TIPS demand
