SMIG is an actively managed ETF that invests primarily in U.S.-listed equity securities of small- and mid-capitalization companies, allocating at least 80% of its net assets to this segment. The funds holdings may include U.S. common stocks, American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), and real estate investment trusts (REITs), giving it flexibility across both domestic and foreign-listed securities as well as real estate exposure.
Because it targets small- and mid-cap income-oriented equities, the fund blends growth potential with income generation, often drawing from more mature smaller companies that pay dividends. The inclusion of REITs adds a real-asset income component, as REITs are generally required to distribute a significant portion of their taxable income to shareholders.
- Small/mid-cap rotation lifts dividend growth ETF inflows
- Fed rate cut expectations boost income-oriented equity funds
- Active management competition intensifies in small-cap income category
