Description: XOP S&P Oil & Gas Exploration

The SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Exploration & Production ETF (XOP) seeks to track the performance of the S&P Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Select Industry Index, which represents the E&P segment of the broader S&P Total Market Index. Rather than holding every constituent outright, the fund uses a sampling strategy, investing at least 80% of its total assets in securities from the underlying index. Launched in 2006, XOP provides investors with exposure to U.S. mid-cap companies engaged in the upstream activities of the energy industry, namely the exploration, drilling, and production of crude oil and natural gas.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • Crude oil prices rally on tightening global supply outlook
  • OPEC+ extends production cuts to support higher prices
  • US shale producers boost capital returns to shareholders
