Description: FIIG Intermediate Duration

First Trust Intermediate Duration Investment Grade Corporate ETF (FIIG) is a fixed income fund that invests primarily in corporate debt securities. Under normal market conditions, the fund commits at least 80% of its net assets to investment grade corporate debt securities-those rated Baa3/BBB- or higher by at least one nationally recognized statistical rating organization (NRSRO) at the time of purchase. Unrated securities may also qualify if the funds investment advisor determines them to be of comparable credit quality.

FIIG operates within the investment grade corporate bond segment of the fixed income market, which is generally characterized by lower default risk and tighter credit spreads compared to high-yield or junk bond categories. Launched in August 2023, the fund is structured as a small-cap ETF with approximately $625M in assets, targeting intermediate duration corporate debt-a category that seeks to balance interest rate sensitivity with yield generation through coupon payments from corporate issuers.

Headlines to Watch Out For
  • Federal Reserve rate cut path drives intermediate yields lower
  • Investment grade credit spreads tighten on resilient corporate earnings
  • Treasury yield curve steepening boosts intermediate duration total returns
